3 Quick Memorization Techniques

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Memorization techniques fall into two types. Long term memory and short term memory. Each has it own different techniques. In this article, I’ll talk about memorization techniques which are effective for Hawaii Lemon Laws short term memory and long term memory since both are essential in our every day lives.

1. Memorization By Mnuemonics

This memorization technique is mortgage refinance best rates most popular technique discussed but many people don’t use it. Using it is simple. You make up a phrase which will car insurance lady a certain list, in order.

The most popular example is the colors of the rainbow. The phrase “Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain”. The first letter of each word represents the colors of the rainbow in order.

You can make up phrases by yourself for all kinds of lists.

2. Memorization By Picturing

When you’re introduced to a person, you can remember their names and faces by picturing them in a funny manner.

If someone is called Eli McDonald, you look at them in the face when you first see them and picture their faces according to their names. In this example, we can look at their faces and imagine them wearing a McDonald’s uniform, but eating a Deli France sandwich.

By picturing people and making it humorous, you can remember their face and name much easier. As long as the picture is funny, the recalling part requires no effort.

3. Memorization By Representing Items With Numbers

You can improve your short term memory by representing items with numbers. Go to a room in your house where the environment doesn’t have much changes. Then give a number to represent each thing you see. For example, the first thing you see is probably carpets or floorboards. Use it to represent number one.

The next thing you see is probably the curtains. Use it to represent the number two and so on. With practice, you can represent a lot of numbers using the things you see in the room.

Now if you have an ordered list or things to do for the day, you can remember in order of the list. If you need to remember to go shopping for batteries, then pick up your mum, then see a friend and then help your sister fix her PC…you can place these situations in the room.

Imagine at the carpet (which is number one), there are batteries everywhere, the curtains (number 2) has your mum’s face smiling at you etc…

This is a very effective memorization technique which can help you remember long lists. Your family and friends will be amazed with you being able to remember all sorts of things without writing them down.

There are many more memorization techniques and for short term memory and for long term memory. It all requires understanding and exercising the brain. You need to read up on these memory improvement techniques to further improve yourself. The 3 memorization techniques discussed are only the beginning.

Types Of Telescopes For Astronomy

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Basic Telescope Designs

The job of a telescope is to collect light, not to magnify There’s a world full of women out there. Find one now. image (the eyepiece does that job). The larger the objective (the part that collects the used car donation whether it be a lens, in refractors, or a mirror, in reflectors, the more light the telescope will collect. The more light you can collect, the more detail you will be able to capture, and also important for astrophotography, the shorter your exposures will need to be to capture this detail.

Refractor Telescopes

The type of telescope most people visualize when they hear the word telescope is the ‘Refractor’. This is what Galileo used for his break-thru discoveries. A refractor has an objective lens at the front which passes the light straight through to the back of the tube, focusing this light at an eyepiece or for astrophotography a camera.

Advantages:

-No central obstruction (see more in the reflecting scopes), giving higher contrast.

-Due to the simple design they require little maintenance.

-Excellent for planetary and lunar viewing and photography.

-Excellent for wide field viewing and astrophotography especially in shorter focal lengths (more on this later).

-Because the objective is permanently mounted and aligned there is no need for collimation (again more on this in another article).

-Excellent color in apochromatic and ED (Extra Dispersion) designs.

Disadvantages:

-Costlier per inch of aperture (objective) Remortgages reflectors and catadioptric telescopes.

-Can become bulky and difficult to manage, especially in larger lens designs.

Newtonian Telescopes

This design was invented by Sir Isaac Newton (he of the apple on the head fame). Instead of a lens at the front of the tube this telescope design uses a concave, parabolic mirror to collect light reflecting it back towards the front of the tube to a flat diagonal mirror which reflects the light out the side of the telescope to the eyepiece or camera for astrophotography.

Advantages:

-Lowest cost per inch of all the telescope designs.

-More light gathering power per dollar because of the lower cost design.

-Absolutely perfect color rendition.

-More compact design compared to a refractor of similar light gathering ability.

-Excellent contrast for planetary and lunar astrophotography and viewing in longer focal lengths.

-Can get excellent wide-field astrophotos and short exposures in shorter focal lengths.

Disadvantages:

-Slight loss of contrast due to the central obstruction (the flat secondary mirror) as compared to a refractor.

-Requires more maintenance, such as collimation (discussed in another article) which is vital for great results in your astrophotography, although you will learn how to do this quickly with practice.

Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes

This is a very popular design, with a high tech look. Also known as a CAT (Catadrioptics). They use a combination of lenses and mirrors to collect and focus the light onto the eyepiece or camera. The light enters the telescope through a thin ‘lens’ called a schmidt corrector plate, goes to the back of the scope to a spherical primary mirror which reflects the light back towards the front. Here the light strikes another mirror, the secondary mirror which is mounted on the corrector plate. This secondary mirror then reflects the light back towards the back where it is focused onto a hole in the primary mirror where the light is collected by an eyepiece or your astrophotography camera.

Advantages:

-Compact and portable.

-Low maintenance although once again collimation is required for top performance.

-Many, many astrophotography accessories available.

-Cheaper per inch of aperture as compared with refractors.

-Excellent all-round telescope, good to very good for both visual and astrophography.

-Very good for planetary and lunar viewing and astrophotography.

-Very good to excellent for DSO (Deep Space Object) astrophotography with a caveat (see the disadvantages).

-Very good to excellent optics, both Meade and Celestron are putting out excellent optics on a consistant basis.

Disadvantages:

-Costlier per inch of aperture as compared with ortho evra birth control patch telescopes.

-Loss of contrast due to the central obstruction which is even larger than that in the Newtonian scopes.

-Due to their longer focal lengths the field of view is smaller and longer exposures are required for astrophotography, although a lens known as a focal reducer is available which minimizes or removes this problem. The longer focal length is actually an advantage in planetary and lunar photography.

Maksutov-Cassegrain

The Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope design is basically the same as the Schmidt-Cassegrain design except it uses a meniscus lens at the front instead of a Schmidt corrector plate. The main advantage to the Mak telescope design is you will get sharper higher contrast planetary and lunar images when compared with the Schmidt design.

Listen To Audio Books Online - History Repeats Itself

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

I have tried to convince many friends to listen to audio books online. This really is not any different to reading net webhosting regular book, except that someone else’s voice does the reading for you. Apparently the move from the ‘traditional book’ to a compact disc or mp3 has resulted in a large group of skeptical people who doubt that it is possible to truly appreciate a novel by listening, rather than physically reading. Funnily, it is actually the younger people that are harder to convince to give it a go.

Because my grandmother had grown up listening to stories told on the radio she was more than willing to listen to audio books online - in fact, she found it a pleasure as she could sit quite comfortably, do her cross stitch or even do the gardening while she listens to the recordings. Audio books have been around for a very long time, in fact, many of our grandparents grew up listening to the British Broadcasting Company with its serialized classics. History shows that as early as 1933 an anthropologist J.P. Harrington researched and recorded the oral histories of the Native American tribes.

The American Congress saw a need to provide extra resources for people with sight impairment, and as a result the “Books for the Adult Blind Project” was initiated. This project was the stepping stone for audio books or ‘talking books’ and before long the mass reproduction of them began. In later years the National Library Service provided a much needed public-service for blind citizens across America by recording millions of books in an audio format.

Audio Books and Popular Culture

Massive advancement in technology has driven the audio book online format into the reach of consumers who embraced the development with enthusiasm. It was in the early 1960’s when the homeequity loans of the portable cassette player recorder allowed ease of use. This coincided with the ever increasing popularity of the pursuit for self-improvement. This style of recordings, with emphasis on instructional or educational subjects, became very popular. Self-help audio-books were well and truly in vogue and the initiative was expanded to include audio books on a wide variety of general topics such as the humanities.

Audio book recordings became even bigger and quickly a market was created that catered for people wanting to rent popular titles. Listening to audio book online became a multi-billion dollar industry and producers refinancing a home the industry grow by introducing high-quality recordings done with large casts of voices.

Today, the audio book concept has embraced leading edge technology which has made the product much more accessible to the general public than ever before. The vast array of product available can now be easily downloaded from the web and its formats incorporated into any digital listening device such as cell phones, MP3 players and iPods. In view of this modern and cutting edge tools, it is highly likely that the young people of today might even gain an appreciation for a classical author such as Jane Austen or William Shakespeare.

It is ironic that the advent of the audio book online has not fully replaced printed books version but instead has only highlighted the joys of books in general.

Promotional USB Memory Sticks

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Innovative usb memory sticks have changed our lives in the way that we humans debt consolidation loans with the machine. USB memory sticks revolutionized the computer industry by offering a faster method to transfer data between two devices. The Plug & Play technology is the foremost example of its success. Among the multiple benefits, the USB memory sticks have paved the way for a portable disk storage solution. There is no more a need to carry diskettes, discs and similar storage devices as these memory sticks are able to store huge amount of data easily transferable from one computer to another.

Among its numerous benefits is the size of the memory sticks which makes it a popular choice among the general public. Unlike the large floppy disks and CD, it is a mere 4 inches, maximum. Nowadays, even one inch memory sticks are a common sight. The small size allows the users to safely place it in average car insurance and other small containers.

With huge storage that far exceeds the capacity of the small floppy disks the newer version 2, known by USB 2.0, is as fast as the optical Nebraska Lemon Laws drives and supports a large amount of memory in a much more compact space.

The USB memory sticks are not exposed to the environment. Contrary to the exposed disc surface of the CD and aluminum foils of the smaller floppy disks, the data processing unit is tactfully contained within the memory stick thus preventing accidental data loss. It is precisely due to the unique design that recent trends in memory sticks allow data re-write up to one million times and a retention rate that exceeds almost ten years.

Recent computer hardware is now being built to incorporate the USB flash drive features. Most manufacturers now deliver their machines containing a USB port but without a floppy disk drive. It is due to this flexibility that Medics and emergency workers prefer the modified version of the memory sticks to transfer important data in a critical situation.

The USB memory sticks and flash drives are equally popular among the network and computer repair professionals. These sticks allow them to store system configuration, troubleshooting and antivirus software to perform on-site maintenance of million dollar computer networks.

Industry experts utilize it to store Windows friendly applications that do not require a special plug-in and can operate in a stand alone environment. Windows engineers are directly working with other companies to make USB drives compatible for almost any data processing environment.

The future is bright as major corporations have come up with their own versions of a more secure, user friendly and high capacity memory stick. The development of flash cards and controlled storage sticks is an example of a more refined 21st century memory stick.

Teckno Comixs - What Went Wrong

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

The Tekno Comix company was founded by Laurie Silvers and Mitchell Rubenstein as a division of their publicly traded company, Big Entertainment. The Tekno Comix brand was discontinued in 1997.

Though books featuring the same characters were still published with Big Entertainment branding for the rest of that year in 1997. Tekno Comix tried to expose themselves as much as possible from 1994 to 1997, but the comic book competition proved to be too stiff for the upcoming company and they disbanded.

Tekno Comix publications featured many characters and many different comic book situations created by some celebrity authors and others in the comic book world, but were primarily scripted and illustrated by comics creators for hire by the Tekno Comix.

Some of their comics included:

Gene Roddenberry’s Lost Universe (later renamed Xander in Lost Universe),
Isaac Asimov’s I-Bots,
John Jakes’ Mullkon Empire (six-issue insurance quotes auto series),
Leonard Nimoy’s Primortals,
Mickey Spillane’s Mike Danger,
Neil Gaiman’s Lady Justice,
Neil Gaiman’s Mr. Hero the Newmatic Man,
Neil Gaiman’s Phage: Shadow Death (six-issue limited series).

I was one of the lucky ones to have attended a Comic Book Convention in the Sawgrass Mills Mall in
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on or about August 1994 and was able to meet most of the above listed, it was a pleasure to have met some of those people and have them car insurance their views of where the comic book company was headed. Unfortunately their timing was not conducive to their company performing well, as I recall it, Comic books were taking a backseat to sports collectibles at least in the State of Florida.

The newly formed Florida Marlins, were taking over the spotlight locally and I believe that the comic book industry nation-wide was taking a hit indirectly to sports. 1990’s marked the overproduction stage of the comic book industry and watered down versions of an incredibly large amount of comic titles. Both of the major companies to blame. I can remember the over production of Spider-Man, the Mcfarlane saga, which by the way is the reason the comic book is worthless today. All the companies and their greed led in part to the demise of Tekno Comix.

Some of the Tekno Comix were fun to read, I was a fan of Leonard Nimoy’s Primortals and I have a nice piece autographed on my blog, yours for the viewing. If anyone would like an expired phone card from Gene Roddenberry’s Lost home refinance bad credit just send me a note and a self-addressed stamp envelop and I will send it, send me a note first I only have about 10 left.
